"I see no reason why entrepreneurs and small businesses shouldn't have the same tools and guidance as large corporations"
Kathryn Lappegard is a business coach who helps entrepreneurs and small to medium businesses integrate intellectual property (copyright, trademark, patents, and trade secrets) into their business and marketing strategies to mitigate risk and grow their revenue.
She was employed in the intellectual property department of a DuPont subsidiary for 16 years, and is licensed to practice law before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
She has prosecuted US and international patents, assisted in litigation, trained and mentored new employees, and been part of contract negotiation teams. She also mentors entrepreneurs through the Small Business Administration’s SCORE program.
However, she has most enjoyed the last four years as an independent consultant and coach. As an online-based entrepreneur herself, she is particularly attuned to the pitfalls and benefits of understanding intellectual property for these entrepreneurs.
Kathryn currently lives in Des Moines, Iowa but spends part of each summer in her camper either on her ranch land in Wyoming or travelling around the US. She has published young adult fiction under a pen name.
